eyevis R&D Department announces presentation of new large screen solutions for 2009.
This year the German display specialist eyevis will introduce a big number of new developments.
1. eyevis 3D Cube - A step in a new Dimension:
The eyevis 3D rear-projection cube is the first of its kind in the world. The cube contains stereo projectors and latest generation INFITEC eye separation filters allowing pin-sharp and realistic 3D stereo display for viewing without tiring. The cube has been especially designed for modern applications in designing of buildings, cars, and all other sorts of products. Already during the first steps of the planning, designers make more and more use of three-dimensional plans and models of their work pieces. Besides the possibility to use eyevis 3D cubes for video wall presentations and video conferences in 2 D mode, the 3D mode provides the detailed display of environments with realistic depth of the images. Distances, spacing and sizes of rooms and objects can be displayed with realistic three-dimensional relations. Thanks to the high contrast and the high-performance screens the displayed images do not suffer from any disturbances by environmental light conditions. This allows trouble free operation of the system during conferences and meetings. With the netpix graphics controller, eyevis provides an infrastructure allowing a highly flexible use of the video wall system. All sorts of signal sources can be connected to the system and displayed freely on the video wall. The connected visualisation cluster guarantees the high-quality display of virtual environments. The extremely small gaps between the cubes of the combined video wall (less than 0.6mm) allow an almost seamless 3D projection.
The first installation of this innovative cube was realised in November 2008 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA in Stuttgart. A new 3D display wall with ultra-high resolution by eyevis enlarges their range of visualisation systems. With a total resolution of 4200x2100 pixels, this new video wall allows the realistic display of simulated environments. The video wall comprises 6 cubes and has an overall screen surface of 4.10m by 2.05m.
1. eyevis presents world’s first rear-projection cube with LED light source
eyevis presents its new optical LED projection engine for the EC Cube Series applying 1-panel DLP™ Technology without colour wheel and without Lamp, using RGB LED illumination. This new light concept constitutes the world-wide first LED rear-projection cube. eyevis’ engineers attached much importance on the introduction of the LED light technology into the EC Cube series willing to make use of the various advantages this revolutionary light concept offers. Not only that the LED cube provides an extensively longer life-time of the light source (approx. 55,000h), it also provides enhanced optical performance, i.e. high contrast and high colour gamut RGB illumination system for highest colour fidelity during operation. The LED rear-projection cube which will be presented on ISE will have a 60” screen and full HD resolution (1920x1080px); a 60” version is already under development.
1. eyevis LCD with highest resolution - The New EYE-LCD6400 4K display
Reacting on the demand of our customers for displays with highest resolutions we have included the EYE-LCD 6400 4K into our successful EYE-LCD display series. This new displays offers a pin-sharp resolution of 4096x2160 pixels in 64” screen diagonal. This high-resolution allows the display of several sources on a single display without the loss of quality of the displayed signals. The major benefit of displaying these signals on a single display is that there are no gaps between the displayed images, a decisive criterion e.g. for simulations or for personal wall applications requiring more than on window on a screen with the possibility to vary them in position and size. A further advantage of the display is its outstanding response time of only 6ms allowing crystal-clear display of fast moving images.
1. EYE-4SYNC Board for the EYE-LCD Series - Perfect Control for high resolution Displays
The board was especially developed for two main applications: Firstly, as "embedded" version to be integrated in the EYE-LCD series, e.g. EYE-LCD5600QHD (56” LCD with 3840x2160 pixels) or the EYE-LCD6400 (64” LCD with 4096x2160 pixels resolution), and secondly as a "standalone" version for other monitors in the market.
In principle, the standalone version is called EYE-4SYNC; the embedded version will be included in the displays.
Up to now, for these high resolution monitors special graphic boards were required to connect PCs. With this synchronisation board special graphic cards are not required; PCs can be connected directly to the monitor if this board is embedded, or directly to the EYE-4SYNC.
The EYE-4SYNC has the following features:
The EYE-4SYNC system is a frame buffer controller used to synchronise DVI images on a master sync source. The output syncs are generated internally and can be programmed to control a large range of display modules.
A typical application is source resynchronisation to visualise simultaneously heterogeneous sources on the same display. The system does not include neither scaler nor PiP, that means images are visualised in a 1/1 mode and each module has one output / input. However, the system is tolerant to sources that have not the same size as the display resolution. In this case, the image is centred in the display area.
The system includes a microcontroller which manages the automatic detection of the source standard. The EYE-4SYNC system packages 4 modules in a single 19" rack enclosure; it is able to resynchronise 4 sources to be displayed simultaneously on a typical 4 inputs display. An RS232 interface is also available for external control.
1. eyevis mini bezel displays from the W/M Series with Front Maintenance Option -
Simple installation, comfortable to service, easy to replace
The Displays from the EYE-LCD M/W series are LC displays designed especially for “tiled” video wall applications in professional environments. The displays come in robust metal housings and provide input possibilities for many signal types. Their outstanding feature is their narrow bezel which is unique in the fields of professional LC technology, allowing their use in video wall applications. In order to face the requirements in professional environments, the displays have a robust metal housing.
In order to make LC technology fit for video wall systems eyevis has designed special LC displays with narrow bezels to avoid wide gaps between the individual displays of a video wall. These displays are available with 40”, 46” or 52” screens. The 40” and 46” version have an image resolution of 1366x768 pixels, the 52” version even 1920x1080. Together with their unique brightness and contrast characteristics these displays fulfil all the expectations users
have of modern visualisation solutions. The M-version of the displays is mounted on a special stacking frame allowing simple installation of modular video walls.
Now these displays are also available with front maintenance option. This new developments allows taking of the display panel in a combined video wall without the necessity to demount the entire wall. With a special mechanism even displays in the middle of the wall can be made accessible for service and maintenance works.
6. openWARP² - Custom-designed and cost-effective Pay-per-Channel Solution for high-end Image Combining
With the new openWARP2 device, eyevis provides a cost-effective single-channel solution. The customer only pays for the number of channels he really needs, and this at a competitive price. Any number of devices can be cascaded to realise customised multi-channel installations.
The new openWARP2 device is a much more flexible solution compared with solutions embedded in projectors or image generators, openWARP2 can be combined with any projection device on the market. Of course eyevis provides appropriate high-end projectors for best compatibility.
